This Trip

Johannesburg

We arrived to -3C in Johannesburg after the usual uneventful but long flight. Antonie from Southern Africa Overland Storage picked us up from the airport and took us shopping on the way to the warehouse. At the warehouse we found the truck batteries flat. Luckily, we have a battery isolator/combiner and were able to connect the truck batteries to the lithium house batteries and charge the truck overnight. We stayed the night in the warehouse as planned. Everything was as we left it with no mould or vermin.
Next day we drove to site of the Krag Dag Expo (Power Day), also the site of Maria Coffee and Komma Coffee to get a bit of work done on the truck. Over the next few days Antonie and Aldin from Southern Africa Overland gave me a hand to adjust the second alternator, fit covers over exposed wiring and pipework in the wheel arches and fit some storage boxes under the deck.
Rose and Lawerence, my sister and brother in-laws arrived a few days later and we went to the Golden Reef Casino. Rose and Lawerence got a room, and we parked in the car park as their vehicle.
We visited Soweto and the Apartheid Museum.
To visit family friends a trip to Springs was next. The Walton's made us welcome, and we were treated to tours of Gavin's motorcycles and a visit to the club meet.
