The Copper Town

We caught a couple of combi buses to Santa Clara.  This is a small town just outside Pátzcuaro that specializes in copper work.  We chatted to an ex-teacher that worked in Melbourne for a few years  and has now retired to Santa Clara.  He pays $75 a month for rent and sells sugar cane juice in the square just for a chat I think.

We went to a workshop and were taught the process of making a copper pot.  Very noisy.  See the video below of "us" making our copper pot.  Takes about a week to make a pot.

Only problem is we have since discovered that you shouldn't cook regularly in pure copper as you can get copper poisoning.  We might look at getting it tin plated when we are in Denver - costs about $75 so it will be an expensive pot.
