Lucy is here.  We had a bit of a run around between customs and quarantine but Lucy was fine and very pleased to see us.  Again the customs officer was in total disbelief that we were staying 12 months.  He had to check the visa to confirm.

After a sleep (she was a bit jet lagged) her and I went to the Sheraton resort to check out phones and then to the food court for a beer.  I put her in the carry basket we have for her at the Sheraton and the food court.  While at the bar I asked if I could take my beer outside so Lucy could get out and they said "no problem she is welcome here".  So I took her out and she sat on my lap while I had a beer in the middle of the food court.

The rest of the family went on a hop on hop off Japanese bus trip to the shops.

Today we plan to hire a car and do a lap of the Island, check out the big surf spots.  Maybe find Magnum's mansion - it is scheduled for demolition.  I enquired about hiring a sports car - not the Ferrari, but a corvette would still have been nice.  Only four seats though so might have to settle for a jeep.

  1. go the hawaiin option guys, rent a F100 from u-haul at $19 a day, go to walmart buy some pillows and load the kids up in the back – quite legal in hawaii.

    1. Hi Trev,
Might have thought about it if I had seen your comment earlier although maybe not the safest option for my first days driving on the wrong side of the road in a car that has the steering wheel on the wrong side. We did hire a car for a couple of days and went around to most of the sites. Just saw the end of the world surfing championship at sunset beach. Saw the local winner walking off trophy in hand. Will post some photos later. We are off to Kansas tomorrow night to pickup the truck.

  2. OK….glad Lucy is ok. Where do you think you will be on Christmas Day? Staying put somewhere? Or still where you are?? Bloody hot here still. Laurie’s birthday today. Sent him a text. Had a chicken dinner last night here, 90 packs from Big Rooster for us, and sang carols also for some time. Naomi back from coast Thursday, it is Tuesday today, so will catch up with her before they go to Tolga. Must be dreadful to have to sit there and look at the lovely surf and scenery. Hope you survive the looking??? Lov
