Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon

Everyone had told us how beautiful Bryce is, so it was definitely on our list of places to visit. It didn't disappoint.
The first night we were there it snowed which was great timing, it was beautiful. The kids were outside having snow fights at 10pm and in the morning we woke up to a beautiful sunny winter wonderland.
Stayed at Ruby’s Inn RV Park, Big park with great hot showers (so lovely when there is snow outside) Our last night was interesting when some French guys parked right next to us, the RV parks were unusually big so they could fit. The reception had doubled booked the sight in spite of me going to reception twice to sort it out, anyway the French guys didn't complain about sharing a site, so we left it at that. Later when I checked the account it looked like they hadn't charged us for the last night. Oh well. bonus!
Bryce also has a shuttle bus that takes you to all the view points. It is so easy and well organised.

Queens trail, Bryce Canyon

Derek, Mack and I  walked into the canyon down Queens Garden trail  to take a closer look at the hoodoos.

Second day Bryce Canyon

The second shuttle bus tour we did was to Rainbow point, Natural bridge, fairyland point. Great tour and all included in the National Parks ticket. Such great value for a $80.00 family ticket.  There had been a fire back in 2006 so the forest was still recovering.  They do controlled burning in the parks so often you see wood piled up ready to burn. The tour guide was fabulous, a local teacher. She told us all the hoodoos have names.  Can you see Snoopy lying on his back and Yoda?

Zion USA

Zion National park

From what I had read I thought that Zion would be packed and we might not be able to get a parking place for the big rig.
When we go there it was well organised, we parked in Springdale took the free shuttle to Zion visitors center and then took the Zion shuttle into the park. Stopping at Temple of Sinawava riverside walk and lower emerald pools. Some of the trails were still closed for the winter or for repairs.
Another great National park.

  1. two of my most favorite parks in the US – angels landing walk is worth the time.

  2. Snow, lizards, food and incredible mountains……what a show piece the place is. Lovely colours of the peaks also. Must have been inhospitable a hundred years ago. Wonder what the pioneers thought of it. Wonder how old the place is……guess we could not even begin to estimate. I am blown away with the, sort of grandeur of the peaks. AND so many of them, all as beautiful as the next one. Your eyes can hardly believe the place. It goes on and on, each area just as lovely. What a place to remember. Pleased you shared it with us all. Love mum

    1. Hi Robyn, The National Parks have been spectacular, even the areas that are not so famous are beautiful. USA organises their parks very well, with camping, shuttle buses and hikes. We have not stayed in the campgrounds because most campsites we can’t get into with our big rig, and they usually don’t have cell coverage for school.
