Action Stations

• We have our four year Retirement Visas.
• The truck is in the workshop for measuring up the sub-frame. The builder is happy with most of the specifications, and we are confirming
colours.
• Most of our accessories have arrived.
• I have contacted the water treatment specialist, the bull bar manufacturer, the alternator specialist, the suspension specialist.
• Vehicle GPS tracking and insurance is sorted.

We still have some issues. We are months behind schedule, and we have only just started. We have had to change the specifications for many appliances and finishes due to it being 6 months since we picked them, and stock has changed. Sally won’t be able to come over to Africa before the end of December and that is going to be an issue for registration in her name. You need to be physically present in Africa to get a Traffic Registration Number that enables you to register a vehicle. I intend to go over close to the end of the build and register for the number and then the vehicle can be registered in my name. Later we will transfer to Sally’s name so that we can bring it back to Australia if we want to in less than 5 years. You are only allowed to privately import one vehicle to Australia every five years, and I imported the Ram two years ago.

Canberra

The trip to Canberra for our visas was fun. We went down on Thursday, had our appointment at the Consulate on Friday and came back on Monday. We went to Art Galleries, the Botanical Gardens, ate out and walked our feet off. Ubers were also used and the drivers were all immigrants and interesting to talk to about their experiences.
