Florida City RV Park
We wanted to leave the caravan somewhere so we could go to the Florida Keys for Christmas. Of course all the Keys RV parks were full so we had to try and free camp somewhere….. semi-legal and without the caravan it would be a lot easier.
We found a space in the Florida City trailer park, not much to it just a secure place to leave the caravan while we explored the Keys. Our neighbour was an interesting character, called herself “Robyn in the Hood” she was friendly and quite a chatterbox but if you got tired of it you could just walk over towards the other side of the driveway, she couldn’t follow you because of the restraining order the resident there had place on her. Hood because the area we were in she called “The Hood”. As much as I was enjoying listening to the conspiracy theories of my new mate I didn’t want to spend Christmas in the RV Park.

The Keys were interesting, a bit different to the rest of Florida. Key West was especially busy with cruise ship tourists, free range chickens and the odd Polydactyl cat. They're called Hemingway cats and have 6 toes.
Managed to find a place to park the RV for the day in Key West, it was so busy, just as well we left the trailer behind. Had a look around the town and then headed off back the way we came to find a place to park for the night. Christmas Day things were quieter which meant we were able to get into the beautiful state park of Bahia Honda.

One of the things I found most interesting about the keys is the fact that they are limestone islands, remnants of ancient coral reefs. They extend from the southern tip of the Florida mainland, for about 220 miles connected by bridges. Looking at the ground you can see all the shell fossils.
