John Denver put this area on the map for us.
Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River, ….. so we had to drive south to Florida via Virginia - the skyline drive and the Blue ridge Park Way. Obviously, playing John Denver all the way and having the kids whinging about ‘how old are you mum’ in the back seat. The camp sites had already closed for the winter so we parked overnight in the car park, only to be told off by the Park ranger, but fortunately didn’t get a traffic citation.
