New York
New York
The big apple, with all the many songs, movies, stories about it, did it live up to all the hype?
Well I though Chicago was beautiful and even elegant, Detroit interesting, but New York, I am not sure what to make of it. It is a mismatch of buildings and people, super rich and super poor, scruffy (there are bags of rubbish on the sidewalk left for pickup) and magnificent, so I suppose it is a life style, a life style I wouldn't mind trying for a while, but the rest of the family, not so much.
Rockefeller Center
Time Square
I loved the lights, the kids didn't share my enthusiasm, and by this stage they knew their way around so made their way back to the RV park. Derek was not so lucky, he had to sit on the steps and eat a New York street cart hotdog with me while watching the lights changing.
Where is the grass
There is not a lot of grass in New York, except Central Park, so Lucy probably found it the hardest, being a country dog she can only go on grass. (or a flower pot). Even the High Line, I was expecting more gardens but it looked like mostly dry weeds and lots of people.
High Line
World Trade Center
A lot more moving than I thought it would be. I loved the train station modeled on the wreckage of 9/11. We thought it looked like you were entering a whales carcass but beautiful all the same.
